Strike Back below!

There isn’t much better than can happen to you than catching the eye of Christopher Nolan, as Cillian Murphy has done. He’s played key roles in booth BATMAN BEGINS and INCEPTION, which has caused the actor to make a name for himself in the States.

For his next project however, he’s heading back to the UK. He’s starring in THE RETREAT, where Thandie Newton will play his wife. Here’s the pitch, according to Deadline:

Murphy and Newton will play a husband and wife who rent a remote island cottage while trying to repair their marriage. One day they find a biohazard-suited soldier washed up on the beach, who warns them that everybody on the mainland has been killed by an airborne virus. That’s when the psychological fun-and-games begin...

Sounds like a cool concept, though a bit like Murphy’s past adventure in 28 DAYS LATER. Will there zombies? Please let it be more original than that.

The project is from first time writer/director Carl Tibbetts, and is being produced by David Frost, the actual David Frost from FROST/NIXON fame. Sony has picked up UK rights, and the last time they did that for a film it was MOON. So maybe this can be another Oscar worthy film that they’ll totally forget to promote at all!

COMING SOON!

Extra Tidbit: I'd almost suggest him for the Riddler in BATMAN 3, but oh, wait.

Cillian Murphy is fantastic
even enjoyed his work in Red Eye. He's too talented an actor to retread his previous work I imagine this won't be similar to 28 Days Later.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt. If Inception was in any way his audition for Batman 3, he killed it. I'll watch this guys next flick whatever it is.

Woooo boy
All you have to do is mention his name, and I'm on board. And, I agree with the consensus that he owned his respective roles in Inception and Batman Begins. He was equally as great in Sunshine and 28 Days Later, as well. I had to fan myself off when I saw this article, not to mention, I almost had to change my panties when I saw the pic! Thanks for making my day, Paul!!

He would have made a good Riddler, but for obvious reasons can't. In my opinion, the best choices for Nolan to cast would be Michael C. Hall, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hugh Laurie, or Guy Pearce.

Guy's a great actor. He's been great in everything I have seen him in. I love plots like these and think this has potential to be really good. He did really great in Batman Begins and kicked ass in Inception.

Am I the only one who thought this guy owned every other performance in "Inception"? And now that I think about it, who also owned every other performance in "Batman Begins"? This guy killed it in "Inception", I'm up for anything he does next.

I'll see anything with Cillian Murphy in it. The man is frantically talented. Whatever that means.
