Is Nolan Done? Aug. 27, 2008
Source: H. Reporter
by: Daniel Barna

While the interweb runs rampant with outlandish casting rumours surrounding the follow up to Chris Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT (Rosie O'Donnell as Clayface?) most have chosen to ignore the fact that Nolan himself has not even signed on for the third installment. I guess it's just assumed that 500 million domestically and counting means "f*ck yeah let's do it again!"

Apparently not. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nolan, who is on a much needed vacay, has yet to commit to the daunting task. In the article, THE DARK KNIGHT producer Charles Roven says:

There are a lot of us who emotionally would love to do it, but it's really Chris' call. Chris is the kind of filmmaker who just doesn't think about the next movie before he has completely finished the movie he is working on. When he comes back, we will see how he feels.

If Nolan does in fact decide not to return, may I suggest Joel Schumacher as a possible replacement? Something tells me he would do a fantastic job.

Extra Tidbit: Batman 3 casting rumours! Which ones suck and which kick serious tail!?!

NO NOLAN NO BATMAN 3
i didnt say no nolan no more batman movies. cuuz that would be gay. i mean no nolan no tdk sequel. because batman 3 wont be in the vision we all have witnessed in tdk. it'll jus be wrong and it wont feel right to have another director come in.

NO BATS W/O NOLAN??!!
saying that there should be no future batman films if chris nolan doesn't come back is retarded. batman's been around a hell of a lot longer then chris freaking nolan.

TWOFACE DEAD?
Nolan will come back. TDK didnt really leave the franchise completed.

On another note however... am I the only one who doesnt think two face is dead? they say that Harvy Dent was dead but that doesnt mean jack for two face. In this film they very much wanted the two characters to be eparate, even though they are the same entitiy. I dunno. I just feel like its more of a cliche to kill the villan at the end. They bury Dent for the public but im sure two face is in alylum

Give Nolan some time. He'll come around to complete the trilogy. As far as villians go, I'd like to see Clayface. But there are a handful of good villians to choose from. And I don't think it'll be Two-Face because I think Nolan is far too creative for the whole "Oh, by the way, he didn't really die" cliche

WHAT A DUMB FUCKING ARTICLE
I would be pissed if I were Nolan and I saw some dumb shit article like this. He did The Prestige after Batman Begins, we didn't see anything out of Knight until after Prestige. So what makes us think that Nolan is ready to sign on to a new film a month after Dark Knight hits?? He's got a LOT of time to spend making a script because a third film is not set up as nicely as the second one was. Dumb article still

fuck it, he shouldn't do it. the dark knight was perfect. can't we all just revel in that a bit? i think it'd be cool if he let it sit for awhile and make a third film in like 10 or 12 years with all the same main character actors and play it with an aging batman, something like what metal gear solid 4 did with snake except not as extreme. you could give alfred the butler a good death if michael caine doesn't die before then. the city has a chance to evolve and devolve in its respective ways and we can meet the same batman in a changed gotham. go into bruce wayne's psychological breakdown that must've followed after he was turned on by all the people he protected and the person he loved as bruce wayne (rachel dawes) has perished. man, it would kick ass. grow some patience kids!

I really don't care if Nolan comes back or not. The Dark Knight was a great movie, but I'd be more excited about a third movie if they get another talented director than if they bring Nolan back.

I know what Nolan's Batman is like. I want to know what a Batman from Alfonso Cuaron, David Fincher or Tom Tykwer would be like

I honestly believe Nolan will not make another Batman film. He has almost no reason to. He's a small indie director, he shouldn't give a shit about money or fame. I honestly believe he's said everything he wants to in the batman universe, and that's fine with me. I would prefer things stay on a high note, instead of every other fucking superhero trilogy where the second is the best and the third is the worst.

That being said, they will make a 3rd batman. And I hope we get Depp as the riddler.

The third movie will be good, just not chris nolan good. And this way nolan can work on another great film (prestige 2...*fingers crossed*)

Terrible title for a headline..these stories about any little thing on Batman are getting ridiculous..i love TDK like the rest do..but get a life! Obviously you can never top TDK much less the 2nd highest gross ever. So from now on i'm not reading anything more about Batman unless its newsworthy.

I agree with LoCkEd_N_LoAdEd, if Nolan doesn't come back there shouldn't be another Batman film. And as for another movie with Nolan, I'm not saying he can't top it, but it was the best fucking Bat-movie ever with the best villian in the Batman universe. Any other villian to follow up wouldn't be able to top the preformance of Heath as Joker or the character of Joker himself.

I don't know that's just me thinking.
