Strike Back below!
by: George Merchan Jul. 29, 2010

UPDATE: Fox has asked us to remove these images from our site, even though they don't seem like "official photos" to me, but rather, behind-the-scenes pictures, but we've taken them down anyway, just cause we're "good like that"... ;)

KinoGallery has gotten hold of some behind-the-scenes photos from director Rupert Wyatt's RISE OF THE APES. You can head on over there to check out the full gallery but you'll find the best ones below, featuring a rather normal-looking James Franco and Freida Pinto being accompanied by a short monkey-like man in a mocap suit. Wait... is that Andy Serkis in the mocap suit as "Caesar", the eventual leader of the simian uprising??

For you guys in the cheap seats, the film "is an origins story set in present-day San Francisco. [It is] a reality-based cautionary tale, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy."

RISE OF THE APES looks to unleash its gorilla goodness on June 24, 2011.

Pinto is hot!
Overall cast looks good and the original story is great. I have a good feeling so far.

Not Serkis
There's no way that's Andy Serkis. Unless the dude's had a major face lift.

I'm sort of on the fence with this one cause I'm just not sure we really need a new Planet of the Apes movie. I didn't realize the previous one made enough money for the studios to think it was a good idea to greenlight a new one.

I don't know how this is going to turn out, so I'm neutral for now.

That is obviously Andy Serkis. How can you miss it? He's just hunching, you know, because he's playing a chimp.

Okay, pet peeve grammar police here...
... there is no such word as type-casted. It is simply typecast. In the same vein, it is incorrect to say someone was casted in a movie. They were cast. I'm sorry, it just bugs me something fierce. Like being called a looser (although that one's actually kind of ironically funny).

Typos are one thing. I let those pass. But chronic grammatical misuse should be corrected, especially since it was done by the contributor himself.

Why are you so concerned with how I come off? Why make it personal? I didn't.

you should probably stay away from blogs if it bothers you that much.

Policing grammar is like trying to sweep the beach into the ocean.

At the same time you come off as petty and bitchy since you obviously understood what he meant.

For extra tidbit, yeah I think actors/actresses can be type-casted. Like Frank Welker. The guy knows how to do voiceover for animal characters.
