Spielberg OK w/ Tintin Aug. 26, 2008
Source: THR
by: Dave Davis

I wasn't even aware there was any kind of concern regarding Steven Spielberg's involvement with the upcoming "performance capture" TINTIN movies, but fear not -- everything's fine!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Spielberg will still direct the first movie in the planned trilogy, with Peter Jackson handling the second and both co-directing the third. At least, that was the plan as initially intended... and apparently still is.

It seems that Herge Studios, who holds the rights to the famous Belgian comic series about an adventurous young reporter and his loyal hound, announced that Jackson was shifting to the first movie, making some hullabaloo about about Spielberg's position. But that's not the case, and everything is status quo. Huzzah!

Extra Tidbit: So I guess the news is that... there is no news. Slow day.

I'd rather see a Jonny Quest movie than a tintin movie. Now THAT would be a hoot! Frog men! Race Bannon! Hadji! C'mon! Epic win!

WELL...
In many ways,Tintin was the early Indiana Jones of his time. It's only natural that Spielberg does this. I have a feeling it is going to be pretty cool. Now to see who will play the Thompson Twins? Hmmm.... :)

I agree zombie, and I can only hope this bombs to high hell so they stop making the trilogy. A Tintin trilogy? A WHAT?!?! A FUCKING TINTIN TRILOGY???!?!?

This is an epic fail and a humongous waste of time for both. Especially Peter Jackson, he's in his prime and should not waste his time on this shit.

Anyone else think this is a GIANT waste of time for both the Bearded One AND Pete Jackson. I think we can all agree that they are both incredibly talented directors. Why are they wasting time and energy with this mediocre property? They could have any job they want, and this is what they pick? Lame.

I think it is a good choise for Spielberg, making something different from his previous works. I really like the Tintin comics and the news that Steven Spileberg and Peter Jackson making a trilogy together sounds very promising.
I just wish it would be a live-action movie. This realistic CGI with the look of Hergé's characters seems a little unconfident to me. We have to wait and see.

Anyway, whatever Mr. Spielberg did I liked it so far!
(Okay, two exeptions: Lost World and the second half of War of the Worlds)

after KOTCS, Speilberg needs to op out of these fantasy-adventure films. even if you subtract Lucas Speilberg's lost the touch so prominent and original in his early films (almost like a childlike sense of adventure; a combination of action and comedy), that now anything similar seems cold and predictable; a trademark more so than a suitable action. this struck me after watching WOW and dispite the Cruise factor, the film seemed unable to convey any real emotion. it seems like this dark factor has been lingering over his work since SCHINDLERS LIST.

THOMASAV: GOOD POINT
I never thought about the question of the score. John Williams really should be doing the music, not just because it's Spielberg but because it's Tin Tin and he deserves an Indy-esque adventure score.

And I also agree with ChinoMoreno7 a bit. I mean, Tin Tin is a better property than most westerners think or know. But it's an Indy clone, so why not make Indy 5 and correct the problems with that film's legacy? You know, before starting another franchise finish what you start with the first.

I mean this is a Spielberg film.
