Not if they've started other WPP chapters in other time periods. They send someone into 1920 and the chapter they've started in 1920 has a house and all the necessary clothing to blend right in. doesn't sound dangerous or stupid to me, it sounds like a pretty unique story. |

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE
...something about the storyline sounds a little half-baked. I think the idea of hiding witnesses in time warps sounds impractical and dangerous, and also kind of dumb. |

DAVE...
davis: Aren't ALL comic book creators trying to SELL their story? You said "...but now there are just countless opportunists stuffing comic shelves with half-hearted crap...". I mean I get what you mean, but you act as if 'half-hearted crap' has all of a sudden made its ways to book shelves. Sorry, but there has ALWAYS been shit. See you're right, these days comic book artists rush out a story in hopes of some shmuck producer finding the premise "cool" and signing a deal, but they rushed out stories back in the day as well, just for a different reason. See, back in the 30's when DC and Marvel were just getting started they created and published new stories fast as hell b/c the faster they wrote them, the more they could produce and ultimately the more money they could make. Example? I own BOTH the DC and Marvel encylopedias, which have EVERY SINGLE character from EVERY single comic EVER released. Each book is well over 300 pages and I would say about 60 percent of these books are filled with SHIT. Ever heard of the Chlorophyll Kid? How about Color Kid. No? Well Green Lantern and Superman held tryouts for the JLA and these 2 douche bags along with like 6 others got rejected and thought it would be cool to start their own team called The Legion of Substitute Heroes!! Yeah! complete garbage. It has always been there and ALWAYS will. With that being said, this premise is cool as shit (IMO) and since there is already source material a so-so writer could get this right fairly easily. All I need is a decent director. I could see Robert Zemeckis doing this perfectly. He's already got the time travel down and now he's got the new animation technique he used for Polar and Beowulf. Show like 5 different time periods, put this in IMAX theaters plus digital and I think it would be bad ass. Just a thought. |

BK: That's a double-edged sword. It's fine if the source material is worthwhile and the adaptation is handled well, but now there are just countless opportunists stuffing comic shelves with half-hearted crap in hopes of getting some Hollywood chump to buy it. The majority of stuff that gets released in comic form now is intended from the get-go as a potential property -- the creators don't have a story they want to TELL, they have a story they want to SELL (look at someone like Platinum Studios as a prime example). That's fine if you can see through it, but there are probably people who still buy comics getting bamboozled by the avalanche of hasty rubbish. |

COMICS AS MOVIES
Well atleast comic geeks can rest easy knowing that their long loved medium is FINALLY coming to be respected in the mainstream media as more than just geek material. Characters that no one heard of years ago like Hellboy (or to a lesser extent Iron Man) are getting big screen adaptations that everyone is seeing.
So for better or for worse, comics are becoming tools for films, which are allowing the comics to be spread into pop culture like never before. |

Sounds good.
Comics nowadays are just like story boards for movie companies to visualize what they are buying. |
